KATHIE KEANE

I have been an artist all my life, creating pictures since I was a child in Stratford, Connecticut and majoring in Art in High School. I went on to Southern Connecticut State College for my bachelor of science degree in Art Education and a teaching certification, then earned a Masters degree in Art from the University of Hartford Art School. Showing in local galleries over the years, I work in collage, ceramics and sculpture, and I enjoy creating jewelry from natural and found objects.

 

I taught high school art in Connecticut for four years, then moved to Deer Isle in 1978 and taught for another two years at the Deer Isle Elementary and Deer Isle, Stonington High Schools. I love our island community and being involved, serving on the school board for a year; as vice chair of the building committee for the K8 school that brought the two town schools together, and as President of the Deer Isle Artist Association for a year and President of the Evergreen Garden Club for the last 3 years.

 

During our glorious warm seasons I make time for my gardens; a Zen garden, two flower gardens, and a vegetable garden. I have two wonderful children, Grace and Max, and a very old cat. I love to sail, and raced sail boats for many years in Blue Hill Bay. I'm an enthusiastic kayaker and love being on the water in any kind of vessel.

Enabling a client to recognize a healthy environment, internally and externally, and to allow positive ideas and thoughts to flow are the basis of my work. I also encourage an integration of all aspects of good health including food, exercise, and positive connections.
